Brummie peer Lord Rooker has moved the peace process forward by finding an issue on which politicians from all sides can agree - that he must hang for having the gall to ask us to PAY for public services.
Doesn’t he know that we bring much needed international attention to the UK? After all, where else in the world do white people shout and roar and (now very occasionally) kill each other? If it wasn’t for us, western Europe would barely have been on American TV for the last 30 years, and where would all the dollars go then?
We can’t be expected to work for a living, for God’s sake we can’t even be trusted to pick the best deserving candidates for jobs without resorting to sectarian nonsense. We need state handouts, and our politicians are quite right to point that out. After all, its not like they’re just kicking an easy target who’s actually trying to run the place to curry favour with the electorate, whilst absolutely refusing to take responsibility themselves and do the jobs they’re actually paid for, is it? Whats that? Eh? Oh.
Exhausted foster parents Tony Blair and Bertina Ahern finally issued an ultimatium to their spoiled, sulking kids, Cat and Prot.
Dad Tony and Mum Bertina grounded the pair of little blighters in their for 6 weeks today, and threatened to ground them for longer unless they behaved and sorted out their problems.
The two brats haven’t been speaking to each other for centuries, and the patience has finally drained from the two fosterers.
“If they can’t sort it out this time, then I’m stepping in to take control, ” cackled evil paternal Uncle Peter. “And I’m going to make them pay for their water and lodgings, so they’ll start talking soon if they know whats good for them.”
Tony and Bertina are at their wits end, and are rumoured to be on the verge of walking out, leaving the two kids back where they have been before, with no say in their future. Hopes are low though, as each accuses the other of breaking the ace Power Ranger toy they both want, and neither looks like backing down.
Its a bit difficult for a blog commenting primarily on Northern Irish affairs not to say something about Denis Donaldson’s murder. It hasn’t stopped me before, but thats because Robyn is normally better at this sort of thing. There are a few interesting things to be said here though. Continue reading ‘Principles vs Power’
DUP MEP Jim Allister today attacked the democratic deficit in Brussels, claiming that EU trade negotiations were harming Ulster farmers and were not subject to democratic accountabillity.
Helpfully, Mr Allister failed to mention the democratic deficit in Belfast which allows criminal justice, finance, health, education, planning, environment, transport, industry, water and social policy all to be set by people not subject to democratic accountability. The fact that his party could actually do something constructive to change this democratic deficit also slipped his mind.
Perhaps he could consult DUP colleague and bible expert “Dr” Ian Paisley on certain bible verse involving motes, beams and eyes.
Sinn Fein “MLA” Gerry Kelly has attacked the government’s decision to give millions of the Queen’s sterling to deprived loyalist areas.
“Its a serious mistake for the government to sectarianise poverty,” said Kelly. “Thats our job.” He then went on to sectarianise poverty by quoting different figures which show nationalist areas deserve the money more than themuns.
